Basically okay story but leaves the reader with lots of unanswered questions which distract from the authors message. The story is about the recovery of a stroke victim, yet 75% of the book is about the authors love for his wife (sweet, but eventually blah, blah, blah). I read the entire book trying to figure out why the author talked so much about life in Colorado when their home and hospital were in Florida...and why there are no existing children when a pregnancy is mentioned (seems like that would be an important part of a woman's life, more so than ski trips, etc)...and why make it appear to the reader that the love was of some mystical kind so strong they can read each others minds (literally?) and growing stronger each passing day/year, and then briefly mention an unexplained infidelity? Many more confusing areas, but will stop here.Giving this a 3-star simply because it is a good story but could have been a better book.

Althea A Story of Love eBook Philip Rastocny Dr William DeWeese Reviews
As this amazing true story unfolds, some of the events initially are difficult to believe. For anyone to have recovered rapidly from a traumatic life threatening situation, miraculous intervention most likely occurred. The love shared by this couple becomes vibrant and palpable. This book offers insight and hope for anyone in a relationship or involved in caring for a traumatically injured loved one. With a triumphant conclusion, this is a powerful story of amazing love and healing!
One of the most touching love stories I have ever read. "Althea A Story of Love" is a touching look into the lives of Phil Rastocny and his wife Althea, covering the early days when they met and fell in love, to the present.
I loved how Phil shares openly with readers his complete and undying devotion for the love of his life - Althea -- and how scared he was as she struggled to recover from her illness.
The book also offers hope and suggestions to those suffering with brain injuries as well as their family members caring for them. It was simply a joy to read.

I really liked this book. My friend told me about it and said I should read it. I usually read stories with suspense and mystery involved in them but I thought I would give this one a try. The first couple of chapters had me laughing and really connecting with the characters. This story has emotion, humor, adventure, triumph and true life experiences that I believe everyone can relate with. In the beginnning it grabs you and draws you close to the characters that the story is about and does not let you go until the end. It is a story of love, laughter and two peoples desire to never say never. I would think that all people have had tragedy hit close to them effecting family and friends. As I read I found myself thinking back on my own experiences that life has brought. I would remember how it felt and what I and the people close to me did for one another. The story does get sad in some areas when describing the condition of Althea after the stroke happened but the uplifting feeling that you get as the story goes on and her recovery continues is more than extremely rewarding. I would recommend this book to anyone. The chapters go quickly as the story pulls you in.
